West Coast Inspired Gallery Collection

A life-long resident of the province of British Columbia - growing up surrounded by the orchards and beaches of the Okanagan Valley, and having called the west coast my home for more than the past 30 years, I find continual inspiration all around me. This gallery is an eclectic mix of images celebrating that inspiration.

No Trespassing, the Little Red House

No Trespassing, the Little Red House

This little red house has been anchoring the surrounding turf farm for many years, a quiet sentinel surrounded by an ocean of green. Slowly the elements and time have begun to reclaim it, soon it will only be remembered in memories.

Pre-dawn on the pier in White Rock, BC. Overcast and rain meant no great color in the sky, but there was some contrast if you waited for it.

Whytecliff Park

Whytecliff Park

Whytecliff Park, found at the end of Marine Drive in West Vancouver, is possibly one of the best hidden gems in our local parks systems; its rugged coastline offers views across Howe Sound and to the coastal mountains.

This long exposure image was made from the shore, just before sunset - approximately 1.5 minutes of exposure time.

Vancouver's False Creek Dreamscape, Orton Effect

Vancouver's False Creek Dreamscape, Orton Effect

Processed in the manner of Michael Orton's "Orton Effect", this is a early evening image looking across False Creek towards BC Place stadium and Yaletown, the trendy community area in Vancouver's downtown core. If you examine the fine details of the image you can see items such as individual screws and nails in the boardwalk planks, and even the ghost images of a couple of pedestrians strolling the rail.

Bose Family Farm

Bose Family Farm

I passed this family farm for nearly a decade before I was became aware of its heritage in the area. This photo is of the lower barn, constructed in the 1930's; the original barns from the beginning of the 20th century still stood on the upper portion of the farm when I made this image. These buildings were in an incredible state of dis-repair, however the lower farm has been redeveloped for condos and homes, and the main structure was considerably rebuilt around 2015 as a common building for the property.
